Nidhoggr

The Dragon of Norse Mythology; Nidhoggr

The Dragon Nidhoggr is said to reside on the lowest level of the nine worlds, under the Norse tree of life, Yggdrasil. He knaws down on the roots, trying to escape his prison. This is where he will remain until Ragnarok comes, after the year long winter and the wells of both Miror and fury's dry up. When this happens, the tree will lose its life force, and the dragon will escape to fight the gods and goddess that reside in asgard.

This painting was done by his request. Their were other deities in mind such as Anpu (known to the Romen men as Anubis) or the trickster god of Norse mythology, Loki.  This was not done out of favortism, but rather because the deity was determind to have this done.
