Mentor Artist

My Mentor artist for this project is Raphael for his work on "Saint George and the Dragon". The painting is based on an actual myth or story around this Saint George. I do not know the whole story and I honestly don't care to know at the moment; but the theme of the painting is reused repeatedly by many different artist.

Raphael was born in Urbino, Marche ether on March 28th, 1483 or on April 6. 1483. He was Italian, and usually did tradional paintings around chirstian stories and buildings. He was also known for his work in printmaking. He died on April 6, 1520 at the age of 37 in Rome.

Current as of June 1st

The Eye

This part proved to be the hardest. At the bottom right was supposed to be Nidhoggr eyes, glaring at the viewer. To do this, I looked at the shape of an lizards eye and the ridges and pupil of a crocodile's eye.

Sketch

The sketch for the dragons painting.
Nidhoggr is positions with his jaws around one of the roots, his body curling around the roots. The tree is going smaller and smaller, as if you are looking up at it. this was done because of the Yggdrasil massive size.
